Donald Trump picks Missouri’s Billy Long to lead the IRS • Missouri Independent
SUMMARY: President-elect Donald Trump appointed former Missouri Congressman Billy Long to lead the Internal Revenue Service. Long, a six-term representative known for his strong support of Trump, was praised by the president-elect as a “consummate people person.” Having started his political career amidst skepticism, Long claimed he was the “Donald Trump of the race” during his 2010 campaign, ultimately winning a tough primary. After leaving Congress in 2022, where he gained attention for urging an IRS investigation into the Humane Society, Long has since worked as a business and tax advisor. Pothole politics: St. Louis mayor's race centers on 'basics'
SUMMARY: In the upcoming St. Louis mayoral rematch, Cara Spencer faces off against incumbent Tashara Jones on April 8th. Both candidates aim to revive the city but propose different approaches; Spencer emphasizes tackling systemic issues, while Jones focuses on incremental improvements. Spencer champions practical reforms, asserting the need for a comprehensive strategy beyond surface-level problems like potholes. In their campaign rhetoric, Jones critiques Spencer’s reliance on wealthy donors, suggesting a conflict of interest, as some contributors face scrutiny over lobbying practices. The race is heating up, promising a heated debate as both strive to address the city’s pressing challenges.

Cara Spencer and Tishaura Jones both promise a renaissance or comeback for the shrinking city. But they differ in how to chart the course to get there.

Saint Louis Zoo exchanges resident polar bear for twins
SUMMARY: The Saint Louis Zoo has exchanged its beloved polar bear Callie for twin bears, Lightning and Thunder, who are 2.5 years old. Callie, who has been a favorite for nearly a decade, was sent to the Toledo Zoo for breeding purposes, where she will mate with a female named Crystal. This bittersweet move supports animal wellbeing and genetic diversity since Callie was an orphaned bear from Alaska. Lightning and Thunder are settling into their new habitat and are expected to make their public debut soon. The transition is emotional for the zookeepers who cared deeply for Callie.

The Saint Louis Zoo announced Wednesday that they have exchanged one of their long-time resident polar bears for young polar bear twins from Toledo. FOX 2’s Patrick Clark reports.
