Diamondhead residents express concern ahead of I-10 Exit 16 ramp closures
SUMMARY: In less than two weeks, work will begin to rebuild the I-10 Diamond Head exit, starting with the closure of the eastbound exit ramp, causing a 10-15 minute detour. Some Diamond Head merchants worry that the detours will negatively affect their businesses, with people already pulling out of local leagues due to potential traffic issues. The project is part of a multi-million dollar effort to widen the interstate to six lanes. Business owners expressed frustration over the lack of early warning. The eastbound exit ramp work will take about six weeks, and more closures will follow for each exit 16 ramp.
