Details for 2024 St. Jude Dream Home unveiled
SUMMARY: Lauren Martinez has joined us from Ocean Springs, giving a first look at the property as the completion of the St. Jude Dream Home is near. The home will be given away this year, and every person who contributed to building it will be given a hand-written note. The home boasts two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and nearly 1,700 square feet, with an estimated value of $375,000. The community of Savannah States is a new, walkable, and healthy neighborhood. The goal is to raise $1.1 million to battle childhood cancer, which will become the largest net contribution in Dream Home campaigns in South Mississippi.
The new year presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance at winning the 2024 Mississippi Gulf Coast St. Jude Dream Home.

Update on absentee voting numbers in Mississippi
SUMMARY: In Mississippi, absentee voting closed on Saturday, with over 209,000 ballots requested since it began on September 23. Nearly 198,000 absentee ballots have been received, a decrease from 2020’s record of almost 234,000. Currently, Mississippi has 1.9 million active registered voters, with past voter turnouts indicating around 66% participation expected. Unlike many states, Mississippi requires a valid excuse for absentee early voting, as it is one of only three states with this requirement. Lawmakers are contemplating changes to allow broader access to early voting. Correspondence on public opinion is being gathered via an online poll.
Election Day may be tomorrow, but thousands of ballots have already been cast in Mississippi.

Warm, humid, breezy Election Day; monitoring Rafael
SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Eric Jaan discussed Tropical Storm Raphael, currently struggling to organize, as the Hurricane season continues into November. Updates are now received an hour earlier due to the switch to Standard Time. Historically, the U.S. sees few hurricanes in November, with only three since 1850 making landfall. The storm is projected to move towards Cuba, affected by high-pressure systems and wind shear, which may weaken it before impacting the northern Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, strong southeast winds are causing minor coastal flooding unrelated to the tropical system. The forecast anticipates breezy conditions and warm temperatures around 80ยฐF.
