SUMMARY: A recent High Point University Poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald Trump by 1% in North Carolina, with Harris at 47% and Trump at 46%. The poll, conducted with 1,164 registered voters, also found Democrat Josh Stein leading in the gubernatorial race with 50% compared to Republican Mark Robinson’s 34%. Additionally, 2% more voters plan to support Democratic congressional candidates. Despite Harris’s lead, Trump remains confident, having previously outperformed polls in North Carolina. Many voters feel the country is heading in the wrong direction, with mixed disapproval ratings for Biden and Harris. Early voting is high, with nearly 20% of registered voters having cast ballots.

4 dead from helicopter crashing into radio tower, FAA sent warning to pilots

Hillsborough Street, I 440 gas leak closure near state fair could last into Tuesday afternoon

The gas leak, detected near an overpass, prompted police to issue the road closures for safety. Authorities are monitoring the situation and will provide updates regarding when the roadways will be reopened and normal traffic can resume.

A gas leak closed Hillsborough Street in both directions at Interstate 440 in west Raleigh Tuesday, complicating commutes for drivers headed to the North Carolina State Fair.

Before 9:30 a.m., the road was closed between Beryl Road and Blue Ridge Road near the fairgrounds. I-440 between Western Boulevard and Wade Avenue was closed as well. Sky 5 flew over traffic backups all the way to Cary Parkway on I-440 North around 10 a.m.
