Tropical Update: Beryl heads for southwest Gulf, tracking Invest 96L
SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel, with winds of 130 mph, is moving toward the Yucatan Peninsula at 21 mph. While powerful, it's a small storm with hurricane-force winds extending only 70 miles, making it more susceptible to land interaction. It's being steered west by a high-pressure ridge and is expected to cross into the southwestern Gulf by Friday. Texas may need to prepare for potential impact by Sunday or Monday. Additionally, Invest 96L has a low chance of developing as it moves across the Caribbean but will be monitored closely. Typical hit-and-miss showers and thunderstorms are expected tomorrow.
