Democrat Ty Pinkins is outspent as he tries to unseat Republican Sen. Roger Wicker in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Democrat Ty Pinkins is campaigning to unseat Republican U.S. Senator Roger Wicker in Mississippi, a challenging task in a state with no Democratic Senate representation since 1989. Pinkins, a military veteran and attorney, has garnered limited financial support and endorsement, even from prominent Democrats like Rep. Bennie Thompson. He emphasizes economic equity and reproductive rights in his campaign, claiming to jog about 900 miles to raise awareness. In contrast, Wicker has raised significantly more funds and focuses on military expansion. The campaign showcases stark differences in political ideologies and priorities, particularly on issues like abortion rights.
