SUMMARY: In Deer Park, crews are battling a large pipeline fire fueled by natural gas, which has been burning for about six hours. At least one firefighter has been injured. The intense heat from the fire has damaged nearby areas, melting a playground and igniting power poles, causing outages. Evacuations are in effect within a half-mile radius from Spencer Highway to Oak Caven. Three shelters are available for residents, and officials are coordinating road closures. Many residents reported feeling the heat and hearing explosions, prompting urgent evacuations as they rushed to safety, with some pets left behind.

The Energy Transfer pipeline in Deer Park is still burning hours after it started next to the Brookglen neighborhood. Residents had to grab pets and rush to safety.

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Kim Castro warns of weather impact on Christmas Eve due to storms from 8 PM to 2 AM. While the severe weather potential is low (level one), isolated storms could produce hail and gusty winds, affecting Harris County and much of Southeast Texas. Rainfall may reach 1-2 inches, with isolated areas potentially experiencing localized flooding. A shift in high pressure and an incoming front are contributing to these conditions. For safe travel, consider adjusting plans to avoid late-night driving. Christmas Day will be quieter with only early morning showers expected before clear skies in the afternoon. More rain is forecasted later in the week.

The KHOU 11 Weather Team is keeping an eye on two different fronts heading to Southeast Texas.
