Davis, Buckhout raise millions in District 1 | North Carolina
SUMMARY: In North Carolina’s competitive U.S. House race, Republican Laurie Buckhout has raised nearly $4 million, but Democrat incumbent Don Davis outpaced her, bringing in over $5 million, making it one of the nation’s costliest races. With Election Day approaching, Davis maintains a significant financial advantage with $2.5 million left compared to Buckhout’s under $1 million. Davis, having won by just 5% in 2022, is favored to retain his seat, holding a 77% chance of victory. The National Republican Congressional Committee is investing in Buckhout’s campaign as both candidates rally support ahead of early voting.

Embattled North Carolina state board hit with lawsuit | North Carolina
SUMMARY: Litigation has been initiated against the North Carolina State Board of Elections by the North Carolina Republican Party, Jason Simmons, and Jefferson Griffin, concerning delays in providing election information for the state Supreme Court race. As of now, Democrat Allison Riggs has taken a lead over Griffin, reversing a significant deficit from Election Night, with the recount request deadline approaching. The issue has raised concerns about the integrity and timeliness of the electoral process in the state.

Boil water notice ends in Asheville | North Carolina
SUMMARY: Asheville officials announced that the city residents are no longer under a boil water notice following extensive repairs after Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to a bypass line at the North Fork Reservoir, which supplies 80% of the city’s water. The flushing process initiated on October 30 confirmed that treated water has replaced raw water in the system. Although water filtration capacity has improved, the city advises residents to temporarily avoid large-volume water activities due to high demand. The Asheville Water Resources Department expressed gratitude for residents’ patience during this challenging period.
