SUMMARY: DART’s board failed to pass a $1.8 billion budget proposal, which included a 1.6% increase, due to diverging opinions on funding and future financial strategies. Some cities, including Irving and Plano, have expressed dissatisfaction with DART services and have passed resolutions advocating for reduced funding. Concerns were raised about conditions on trains and the need for improved services. DART is projected to see a 12.1% revenue boost primarily from sales tax, yet disagreements over growth in operating expenses led to a failed motion to limit this increase. The board will reconsider the budget on September 24th.
