Darlington County inmates under investigation for contraband items
SUMMARY: An investigation is ongoing regarding two Darlington County inmates who obtained a cell phone to post a Snapchat video, one smoking an unidentified substance in their jail cell. Sheriff James Hudson emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for contraband, stating the inmates involved will face charges. Recent shakedowns revealed the phone, which inmates circulate between cells. Despite efforts like increased security measures and weekly inspections, contraband remains an issue. Currently, the jail is near its capacity of 235 inmates, complicating efforts to manage problematic inmates. One of the Snapchat inmates has already been charged with possession of contraband.
Two inmates at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center in Darlington posted a Snapchat video with one of them even smoking something, all from their jail cell.
Some people have questioned if the jail is under control and what’s being done to keep out contraband.
ABC15 talked with Darlington County Sheriff James Hudson about the community’s concerns.

Rain returns on Tuesday
SUMMARY: The weather is starting chilly and dry but will remain pleasant for the next 24 hours due to high pressure. Highs will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees, above average. However, starting Tuesday through Thursday, a cold front will cause significant temperature fluctuations and bring widespread rainfall, especially Tuesday afternoon and night. Week 12 Highlights Midland Valley vs Darlington 2024
SUMMARY: In the first round of the playoffs, Darlington and Midland Valley were tied 8-8 at halftime. In the second half, Darlington’s Jaylen Augustus ran for a touchdown, giving them a 15-8 lead. Midland Valley responded with a tough run by Preston Smith, tying the game at 15-15. Augustus later scored again, pushing Darlington ahead 22-15. Despite a strong effort from Midland Valley, Darlington held onto the lead, winning 22-15 and advancing to the second round of the playoffs after a hard-fought game.
