Federal Reserve could possibly drop interest rates
SUMMARY: The Federal Reserve is expected to lower interest rates this week, potentially by 0.25% to 0.50%. Experts emphasize the importance of a “soft landing,” where inflation is curbed without harming the economy. Lower rates could reduce the burden of interest payments on mortgages, auto loans, and credit card debt, benefiting both current borrowers and prospective homebuyers by making payments more affordable. However, there’s a cautionary note about waiting for rates to drop, as it may lead to increased home prices due to supply and demand shifts. This presents an opportunity for small businesses to expand with lower borrowing costs.
The federal interest rate has not been lowered since the pandemic but the Federal Reserve will decide during a two-day meeting if they will lower interest rates.
