Trump’s latest round of tariffs have taken effect — and more retaliation is coming. What we know
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump has initiated extensive tariffs against nearly all U.S. trading partners, with a new wave of tariffs taking effect recently, including a minimum 10% rate. These “reciprocal” tariffs apply severe rates up to 50%, particularly affecting smaller economies. China is set to counter with an 84% tariff on American goods, responding to Trump’s escalated measures. The European Union also approved retaliatory tariffs on $23 billion worth of products. Existing tariffs include 25% on steel and aluminum, with potential for more product-specific taxes. Economic experts warn these tariffs will raise consumer prices amid ongoing trade tensions.
