COVID-19 cases rising, but a new vaccine is available
SUMMARY: There is an uptick in cases or hospitalizations due to the emergence of a new mutation. Approximately 25% of people who are getting tested, including those in outpatient clinics, are testing positive for COVID. The symptoms of this most recent mutation are presenting similarly to a common cold or allergies. The older and immunocompromised population are still at risk of developing severe pneumonia. Both Moderna and Pfizer are working on vaccines for this new mutation. Doctors are recommending that people get a flu shot and eventually a COVID shot, but there are different opinions on the timeline. Covering a broader patient age range may help lower the severity of cases, especially for those in vulnerable populations. This information was provided by Dr. Taylor Brewer from Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Taylor Brewer from Memorial Health System tells us about the CDC’s recommendation that everyone six months or older should get another COVID-19 vaccine.

03/14 Ryan's “Storms Soon” Friday Morning Forecast
SUMMARY: In the Friday morning forecast for South Mississippi, dense fog is impacting visibility, particularly along Highway 90 and 49. Drivers are advised to slow down due to potential hazards. As temperatures rise, the fog is expected to lift, but the forecast predicts severe weather, including strong storms and supercells, possible late tonight into tomorrow. The region faces a level four out of five risk for severe weather, with increased chances of long-track tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail. Following this system, Sunday is expected to bring clearer skies and a more pleasant spring-like weather pattern.
