Court canceled, mistrial still looms over YSL trial
SUMMARY: In the ongoing YSL Rico trial, defense attorneys are negotiating with state prosecutors, marking a significant development in Georgia’s longest case. Today’s proceedings were atypical, with courtroom doors closed for private discussions. The trial faced issues as witnesses allegedly improperly referenced the defendants’ criminal past, leading to complex jury instructions and mistrial motions. Controversy ensued following testimony from slime life shoty (W Lee), questioning the case’s viability. Judge Paige Whitaker acknowledged mistakes but refused to grant a mistrial with prejudice, allowing the state the option to retry the case if necessary.
