Many people enjoy hunting because of the fun they have with others. Hunting enthusiast James Ray has been hunting for over 40 years and sees his targets as trophies. Bear hunting was popular in Mississippi in the past, but the population declined due to habitat loss and overhunting. The Great Delta Bear Affair is an annual event that celebrates black bears and their history. The state is hoping to build the black bear population back up so that a harvest can be sustained.

The state of Louisiana recently announced it will work toward restarting black bear hunting. Could Mississippi follow suit?
