Human waste found at Thalia Mara Hall by state fire marshal's office
SUMMARY: Thalia Mara Hall is facing severe sanitation issues, including human waste discovered on its upper balcony, leading to its closure since August due to mold and other violations. Councilman Kenneth Stokes expressed embarrassment over this situation, criticizing the lack of communication regarding the building’s maintenance plan. The city submitted an action plan on September 25th addressing at least 20 violations, but the timeline for cleaning the human waste doesn’t align with the proposed schedule. Stokes emphasizes the need for accountability to ensure the building is prioritized for cleanup and eventual reopening.
