SUMMARY: Firefighters in DeKalb County battled a fire that completely destroyed a home on Glen Clove Road early this morning; fortunately, everyone escaped unharmed. The community rallied together to honor Cornelius Taylor, who was killed during a homeless encampment sweep in Atlanta last month. His death incited backlash over the practice, as his family claims he died from injuries caused by heavy machinery, contrary to the police report stating an overdose. In response, Atlanta officials have paused sweeps to review policies. Taylor’s funeral is set for Monday, featuring a silent procession to City Hall to highlight the impact of public policies on citizens.

Late car payments hit highest level in decades

Published

on

www.wsav.com – Andrew Dorn – 2025-03-08 14:00:00

SUMMARY: Americans are missing car payments at the highest rate in over 30 years. In January 2025, 6.56% of subprime auto borrowers were at least 60 days late, the highest since 1994. Rising costs, high interest rates, and increasing car prices have strained finances. The average price of a new car has risen over $10,000 since 2020. A report from the Federal Reserve also shows a rise in serious delinquencies. President Trump’s proposed tariffs could further increase car prices by up to $12,000, impacting consumers and automakers. Prime borrowers are managing better, with only 0.39% missing payments.

SBA to move out of Atlanta | FOX 5 News

Published

on

www.youtube.com – FOX 5 Atlanta – 2025-03-08 03:03:25

SUMMARY: The Trump administration is relocating the Small Business Administration (SBA) out of Atlanta, citing the city’s immigrant-friendly policies as a “sanctuary.” Kelly Leer, the SBA administrator, stated that they prefer locations prioritizing safety and security for small businesses. The move marks the first federal office exit from Atlanta due to political reasons. Leer’s comments imply that Atlanta’s policies encourage illegal immigration, though a city official disputed this, asserting that state law prohibits sanctuary city designation. The SBA may also close 17 other offices in Georgia for budgetary reasons, not political. The future location for the Georgia office has not been disclosed.
