Construction begins on new Shady Grove fire station
SUMMARY: Shady Grow Fire Rescue has begun construction on a new fire station at the county barn. The current station, in use since 1991, has numerous issues including a leaky roof and no heating or air conditioning. The new station, delayed last year due to pipeline issues, will house two fire trucks and include offices, storage rooms, bathrooms, and showers. Initially operating with just one truck, the department now has more vehicles than the existing station can accommodate. The chief emphasizes the need for more equipment to protect the community and estimates the exterior will be completed in 3-4 weeks.
