Company defends Hinds County solar farm plans
SUMMARY: Plans for a massive solar farm in Hinds County, Mississippi, face backlash from residents who argue the project was approved too quickly and may harm the environment, local wildlife, and property values. Apex Clean Energy, a Virginia-based company, has secured initial approval from the Hinds County Board of Supervisors, but further approvals are required from state and federal agencies. Mississippi CPS in need of more foster parents
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services (CPS) urgently needs more foster parents due to a disparity between the 4,000 children in state custody and only 2,000 licensed foster homes. The challenge is finding families willing to take in siblings, older children, and teens, as well as specialized foster care for children with special needs. The shortage has led to some children being placed in hotels. CPS emphasizes that families have control over the placement decisions and encourages everyone to help, stating that the overturn of Roe v. Wade will likely increase the number of children needing care. Foster parents receive a monthly stipend and Medicaid for medical needs.
