Nick's Sunday PM Forecast 6/30
SUMMARY: Happy Sunday Pine Belt! Today's weather mirrored yesterday with scattered thunderstorms and some rain. Temperatures reached 83°F, slightly warmer than normal. Rainfall varied, with up to 4 inches in the southern areas. Most places received minimal rain. In the tropics, Hurricane Barrel, a potent Category 4 storm, became the earliest Category 4 on record. It's moving westward with favorable conditions, potentially affecting the Yucatan Peninsula. Evening temperatures will drop to 76°F with diminishing rain chances, making fireworks shows likely unaffected. Tomorrow and Tuesday will see isolated storms with lower rain chances, looking favorable for Independence Day. Stay tuned for updates!

Malik Heath always carries his brother with him
SUMMARY: Arop will represent Team Canada in his second Olympic Games and enters favored to win. Meanwhile, I spoke with Callaway High alumnus and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Malik Heath this month. Heath's energy was infectious as he engaged with young athletes in the Jackson Metro area. Heath excelled at Callaway High, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss before making the Packers' 53-man roster as an undrafted player in 2023, catching his first touchdown in his rookie year. During our conversation, Heath poignantly remembered his late brother Jamaal, who was killed in a drive-by shooting, describing him as his guardian angel.
