Collin Allred, Ted Cruz campaign this weekend

Published

SUMMARY: A new poll shows Dallas Congressman Colin Allred close to Republican Senator Ted Cruz, with only a two-point deficit. Political analysts suggest a “comma effect” from the recent Democratic National Convention may be aiding Allred’s campaign, particularly concerning women’s issues like abortion rights. While Democrats typically struggle in Texas, Allred has gained momentum following a tight race in 2018. Cruz, who has struggled with popularity, commenced his “Keep Texas Texas” tour over the weekend. This Senate race is anticipated to be one of the most expensive in U.S. history, reflecting the heightened political stakes in Texas.

www.youtube.com – FOX 7 Austin – 2025-02-22 21:47:49

SUMMARY: Hundreds marched to the Texas Capitol, demanding increased funding for public schools while opposing Governor Abbott’s advancing school choice voucher plan. Proponents argue vouchers offer educational options, but critics contend they could harm public schools, many of which are already facing budget shortfalls. The rally, organized by Save Texas Schools, highlighted the urgent need for increased per-student funding, which has remained stagnant since 2019. Teachers expressed concerns over layoffs and program cuts, emphasizing the importance of public education. As lawmakers prepare to debate the voucher legislation, protesters plan another rally in April to continue their advocacy.
