College Football Preview: Mississippi College
SUMMARY: Tomorrow night, the Belhaven University and the Choctaws of Mississippi College are preparing for their season opener. Head coach John Bland hopes for more wins this season. Typically a power run team, they will open up their offense more this year. Running back Marcus Williams, who averaged nine yards per carry and is a preseason all conference pick, will play a key role. Mississippi College aims to improve on their four-win season from last year and compete in a tough Gulf South Conference. They had some big wins on the road and hope to continue their success. Williams has been working on improving his moves, vision, and speed as a running back.

The Mississippi College Choctaws start their 2023 season Thursday night on the road but their head coach believes they can get off to great start. John Bland returns to lead the Choctaws and he’s excited about this year’s group. They have All-GSC preseason running back Marcus Williams setting the tone for the offense. This offense could open up a bit with some new wrinkles and both Williams and Coach Bland are looking forward to the product they put on the field in 2023 as they aim to improve on a 4 win season last year.
