SUMMARY: Civil Air Patrol Cadets from a dozen states are taking part in an annual summer encampment in Hattiesburg, primarily held at Camp Shelby. On Thursday, around 130 cadets and two dozen senior members shifted to Bobby Chain Airport for several flight sessions. Cadets, aged 12 to 18, also engage in team-building, emergency services, drone flying, simulated shooting, and obstacle courses. The encampment, which began on Monday, concludes on Sunday. The Civil Air Patrol, founded on December 1, 1941, is the US Air Force’s official civilian auxiliary.
