Local realtors weigh in on how the Fed's interest rate cut could impact the housing market
SUMMARY: Tonight’s focus is on the Federal Reserve’s first interest rate cut in four years and its expected impact on the housing market. In the week leading up to the cut, mortgage applications surged by 14.2%. Local realtor Patrick Warren notes that this rise is beneficial for sellers and may boost buyers’ confidence in making purchases. However, he emphasizes that individual circumstances will dictate the decision to buy. Additionally, Alabama is set to implement a property tax cap starting next month, as reported by the Alabama Association of Realtors, which will limit yearly property taxes.

I-565 Widening Project Will Alleviate Traffic Congestion | Sept. 19, 2024 | News 19 at 10 p.m.
SUMMARY: A $29 million project by the Alabama Department of Transportation aims to alleviate traffic congestion on Interstate 565, particularly between County Line Road and Water. Set to begin Sunday night, the project will add a third lane to each roadway, addressing peak hour delays and improving overall traffic flow. Though drivers may experience short-term inconveniences, officials believe the long-term benefits will outweigh the drawbacks. With approximately 70,000 vehicles using this section daily, the initiative is deemed crucial as Huntsville and surrounding areas continue to grow. There will be evening lane closures during construction, but no significant impact on the I-565 flyover ramp.
If you’ve traveled westbound on Interstate 565 heading toward Madison, then you’re no stranger to the traffic congestion, but an upcoming project will help change that.
