City of Canton decides on a curfew
SUMMARY: Due to rising violence, Canton has imposed a curfew starting tonight. Mayor Dr. Williams Truly Jr. announced the curfew after several recent crimes, including two drive-by shootings. Opinions on the curfew vary: some support it for safety, while others feel it won’t make a significant impact. The curfew applies to those 17 and younger, from 9 PM to 6 AM on weekdays and 10:30 PM to 6 AM on weekends. Violators face fines. The mayor is also urging businesses to install security cameras. Many believe more activities and guidance for the youth are needed in addition to the curfew.
