Choctaws win first home NCAA Softball Regional
SUMMARY: The Mississippi College Choctaws opened their first NCAA regional on their home field with a 6-1 win against West Alabama. Jordan Moore hit a double in the fourth inning to give the Choctaws a 3-1 lead. Camyrn Bailey pitched well, scattering three hits with one earned run and four strikeouts. Ashley Lightcap’s hit led to another run for the Choctaws. The team played a complete game and appreciated the support from fans. Bailey mentioned that the cheering fans motivated them to play harder and give their best on the field. It was a successful start to the regional championship for the Choctaws.
The Mississippi College softball team started the Clinton Regional in the NCAA Division II Tournament with a 6-1 win over West Alabama. The Choctaws are hosting a postseason regional for the first time in program history.

Bookmobile ready to roll for Laurel-Jones County Library
SUMMARY: The Laurel Jones County bookmobile, “Lottie,” is set to roll through the community, offering educational resources typically found at the library. The library transformed a 1989 Chance trolley, funded by grants and donations, to reach rural areas lacking transportation. Director Karen Walsh highlighted that the bookmobile will provide not only books but also laptops, Wi-Fi, printing, faxing, STEAM kits, Legos, and senior services. Lottie will be in the community two to three days a week, with a schedule in development. Residents can also sign up for library cards. The first stops will be at Soso Community Center on January 22 and Sandersville on January 24.
