Despite initial feelings of anxiety, Shiloh has thrived, excelling academically and athletically across multiple sports. Her mother, Jordan Upchurch, appreciates the support from Children’s, which helped Shiloh access hearing aids, allowing her to participate fully in life. Spanish Fort library expands challenge procedures
SUMMARY: Baldwin County’s Spanish Fort Public Library will soon allow anyone to challenge books on its shelves, following a board decision to change the previous policy that limited challengers to library patrons. The board recently moved 36 books from the children’s section to the young adult section to adhere to Alabama Public Library Service requirements. Notable titles now in the young adult section include “Daddy, Papa and Me,” “I am Jazz,” and “Jacob’s New Dress,” which feature LGBTQ+ themes. City Attorney David Connor highlighted the need to revisit both children’s and young adult sections to ensure compliance with state guidelines.
