Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade shooting: What we know
SUMMARY: A mass shooting in Kansas City during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade involved 22 people aged 8-47, with an individual fatally shot. Three people were detained, including two juveniles, and firearms were recovered. While over 800 police officers were present, the shooting still occurred. Video footage showed the chaos as people fled and some attempted to help the injured. Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a woman killed in the shooting, was a beloved member of the community, and as a result of the incident, Children’s Mercy Kansas City was treating 12 patients and St. Luke’s Hospital reported one patient in critical condition. The mayor may consider holding smaller events in the future for safety.
