Chief Meteorologist David Paul has the latest track for Francine
SUMMARY: Tropical Storm Francine, expected to become a Category 2 hurricane by Tuesday morning, poses a potential threat to the Texas coast, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. A weather impact alert is in effect for Tuesday, especially along the coast, where several inches of rain could cause flooding and raise tides by 1 to 3 feet. Houston’s inland areas may see lighter rain and winds. The forecast track suggests that Louisiana will likely face the brunt of the storm. Residents are urged to monitor updates closely due to possible changes in the storm’s track and impacts.
The 7 p.m. update is out on Tropical Storm Francine, which could become a hurricane soon. This is Chief Meteorologist David Paul’s update.

Austin police identify man killed in deadly officer-involved shooting | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Austin Police have provided updates on a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred last Tuesday. Officers responded to reports of an armed man, identified as 59-year-old Franklin Miller, breaking into a nail salon. Upon locating him shortly before midnight, police found Miller with a gun in his waistband. Attempts to deescalate the situation failed as Miller ignored commands and raised his weapon at the officers, resulting in five officers returning fire. No, a 100-year flood doesn't mean it only happens once every 100 years
SUMMARY: Houston often experiences so-called “100-year floods,” but the term can be misleading. It does not imply that such floods occur only once a century; rather, it signifies a 1% chance of flooding in any given year. According to experts from FEMA, the US Geological Survey, and Harris County Flood Control District, this means a homeowner has a 26% chance of experiencing flooding in a 30-year mortgage period. Given the unpredictability of floods and the multiple watersheds in the area, residents should not become complacent and are urged to obtain flood insurance to protect against potential flooding at any time.
The KHOU 11 VERIFY team explains what this term means and what to really expect if you live in a 100-year flood plain.

Pipeline explodes, catches fire in Houston suburb
SUMMARY: A gas pipe explosion in suburban Houston early this morning created a massive fire plume, prompting Deer Park first responders to evacuate nearby neighborhoods, with some homes catching fire. The explosion occurred around 10 AM and involved a pipe operated by Dallas-based Energy Transfer, which has since been shut down. However, it will take hours for the residual natural gas in the line to dissipate. The cause of the explosion remains unknown. There has been one reported injuryโa minor one sustained by a responding firefighter. Eyewitness accounts capture the dramatic scene of the eruption.
A massive pipeline fire in suburban Houston was shooting a giant plume of fire into the air for more than two hours on Monday as first-responders evacuated a surrounding neighborhood where some homes have caught fire.
