Chickasaw Inkana Foundation and Tupelo celebrate Piominko Day
SUMMARY: Today marks Indigenous Peoples’ Day, also known as Columbus Day, but it is also recognized as Pinko Day. Members of the Chickasaw andanda Foundation held a wreath-laying ceremony at Fair Park to honor Chief Pinko, a notable leader and diplomat from the 1700s who was friends with George Washington. The event featured various activities aimed at celebrating Chickasaw culture, including games, tools, weapons, dancing, and music. Historians believe Chief Pinko died near Tupelo in 1799. Chickasaw elder Robert Perry participated as one of the wreath bearers during the ceremony.
The Chickasaw Inkana Foundation not only celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day but also Piominko Day.

10/14- The COLDEST air of the season (thus far) arrives this week
SUMMARY: Temperatures are currently in the 50s, about 10 to 20 degrees cooler than yesterday, following a recent cold front. A trough of low pressure will bring even colder temperatures by midweek, with potential lows in the upper 30s by Thursday morning, possibly causing patchy frost. Winds will pick up, reaching 10 to 20 mph, raising fire risk due to low humidity. In the Caribbean and Atlantic, two areas of interest are being monitored, one with a low chance of development. Tonight’s overnight lows will drop near 50, and there’s a chance to see the space station at 6:17 AM. Warmer temperatures are expected next week.
