AG Fitch joins peers in urging Congress to bar PBMs from owning pharmacies

SUMMARY: Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, along with 38 other attorneys general, is urging Congress to ban pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) from owning pharmacies. Growing concerns among small pharmacy owners and consumers highlight PBMs’ influence on drug pricing, which can harm independent pharmacies and access to healthcare, particularly in rural areas. Fitch argues that PBMs leverage their power to manipulate drug prices and impose unfair terms on pharmacies. A recent push for legislation to regulate PBMs and prevent practices like spread pricing has stalled. NCAA adopts new football rules addressing fake injuries, overtime timeouts

SUMMARY: This fall, college football in Mississippi will see key rule changes, primarily targeting fake injuries. Players faking injuries to delay games will now result in their team being charged a timeout if a medical evaluation occurs after the next play’s ball is spotted. If no timeouts remain, a 5-yard penalty will be imposed. Additionally, overtime rules change, allowing one timeout per team starting at the third overtime. The NCAA will simplify instant replay announcements and introduce stricter regulations on scrimmage formations. Other changes include penalties for distracting signals and the option for coach-to-player communication in the Football Championship Subdivision.
