Center of Hope Salvation Army asks for community support as need for food assistance increases

The Center of Hope Salvation Army in Gulfport is one food pantry working to meet increased demand, feeding up to 350 families a month, up from the usual 200. Without the $120 per child summer EBT, families struggle to replace school-provided meals. Donations of non-perishable items are critical, with even small contributions like a can of beans making a difference. Community efforts, such as a sorority’s donation of $2,500 worth of groceries, greatly support the pantry’s mission.

The food pantry says they feed 200 families a month, but recently they’ve seen as many as 350.
