Catholic Archdiocese of Biloxi honoring America's first black Catholic bishop with plaque dedicat…
SUMMARY: Bishop Joseph How became the first black Catholic bishop in the U.S. in 1977 and served until 2012, significantly impacting the Catholic Diocese by supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This week, the Archdiocese of Bui and the Alah Hamra organization are honoring him with a plaque dedication. A special mass will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows on August 30, followed by the plaque blessing.
