Capitol police make terroristic threats arrest

SUMMARY: On August 1, 2023, Capitol Police officers in Jackson, Mississippi responded to an incident during an intramural basketball game. A man, subsequently identified as 38-year-old Jeffery Webb Jr., allegedly threatened to shoot several basketball players, before retrieving a backpack from his car. He was stopped by a security guard upon trying to re-enter the building. Police later found a 9mm handgun in his vehicle. Webb was arrested without incident and charged with making a terroristic threat. Police Chief Bo Luckey praised the officers’ and security personnel’s handling of the situation.
