SUMMARY: Broderick Giles, a Canton man, pleaded guilty to attempted murder after trying to carjack Melissa and Derik Woods last June. Giles attempted to steal the couple’s car and shot Melissa while Derik was checking in at a LaQuinta Inn in Hamilton. Police apprehended Giles a week later and discovered that he still had the gun used in the crime. The current status of charges against Giles remains unknown, and the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene.
