SUMMARY: A recent study from VCA Animal Hospitals reveals that humans can transmit COVID-19 to their pets. Approximately 30% of dogs and cats exposed to infected household members tested positive for the virus, although few exhibited symptoms. The study began in 2021 to assess the potential for infection in pets and to understand the dynamics of zoonotic and reverse zoonotic diseases. This research aims to enhance our knowledge of infectious diseases that can affect both humans and animals.
