Callihan faces new federal charges

SUMMARY: Accused kidnapper and murderer Daniel Callahan appeared in a courtroom for the first time since being extradited. Callahan faces numerous charges, federal crimes of kidnapping resulting in and transporting across lines, and state charges of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and second-degree kidnapping. If convicted, Callahan could face in prison or the death penalty. He'll face additional charges in Mississippi, including capital murder and sexual battery. The crimes relate to the murder of Carlie Brunet and her four-year-old son Aaron Brunet. Callahan's attorney described the situation as tremendously sad. A preliminary hearing is set for July 12th.

LPD hosting annual food drive Monday at Laurel Walmart
