President Trump proposes more federal job cuts
SUMMARY: The Trump Administration has already laid off many first-year federal workers and now plans deeper cuts to more tenured employees. President Trump, during his first cabinet meeting of his second term, emphasized the need for government downsizing, calling the current workforce “bloated” and “sloppy.” With Elon Musk’s involvement, the administration is pushing agencies to submit reorganization plans by March 13, aiming for significant reductions. Musk also criticized non-responders to an email about job performance, suggesting they may not even exist. Trump warned the country could face bankruptcy due to ongoing spending and outlined cuts, including potentially slashing EPA staff by 65%.
