Byram Rape Suspect
SUMMARY: A 64-year-old woman who was training for a marathon was allegedly attacked, raped, and brutally assaulted while out jogging. The suspect, Coby Taylor, denied raping the woman but apologized for assaulting her. Taylor was denied bail and is accused of kidnapping, assaulting, and raping the runner. The police believe it was a random attack, and the victim was beaten severely. It was revealed that Taylor had a history of aggravated assault and armed robbery charges from 2022. The judge took his history into account and denied his bail. Taylor will remain in detention until his county court appearance.

More rain is expected south of I-20 tonight and over the weekend, with showers likely into Saturday and Sunday. Tropical Storm Barry, likely to strengthen, could bring additional moisture to Mississippi early next week. Overall, expect warm, muggy weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
