Broadband director seeking public’s help to ensure accuracy in high-speed internet map
SUMMARY: Mississippi is investing millions to expand high-speed internet access, but corrective action is needed as some areas marked as having quality service actually experience slow internet. Sally Doty, director of the Office of Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi (BEAM), is urging residents to report discrepancies by challenging their broadband map status. The map, which uses colored dots to indicate service levels, may contain errors during recent data updates. Doty emphasizes that residents in gray-marked areas should report issues so they can receive the federal assistance intended for unserved or underserved locations. Challenges can be filed through the designated portal.
