SUMMARY: Testimony has concluded in the wrongful death civil trial against former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger, who is being sued by Botham Jean’s family for his 2018 shooting. Guyger mistakenly entered Jean’s apartment, thinking it was hers, and shot him, claiming she believed he was an intruder. A crime scene expert testified that Jean posed no threat when shot, contradicting Guyger’s claims. The first officer on the scene noted Guyger did not assert that Jean was armed or charging at her. Jean’s family seeks a civil judgment for justice, with potential damages in the tens of millions. Closing statements are set for Wednesday.

Tuesday’s testimony was marked by a crime scene reconstruction expert who said Botham Jean posed no threat to Amber Guyger when he was shot.
