Bond remains at $1 million for Mississippi teen accused of killing mother
SUMMARY: A 14-year-old girl in Rankin County allegedly killed her mother, Ashley Smylie, and injured her step-father in a shooting. The girl, Carly Madison Gregg, appeared in court where her defense requested a preliminary hearing and a reduction in her bond. The judge found probable cause in the case and maintained Gregg’s bond at $1 million. The step-father reported that Gregg shot him in the shoulder before he took the weapon from her. Gregg was located near the residence and taken into custody without incident. She has been charged with murder and attempted murder and is being held in the Rankin County Adult Detention Center. Smylie was a teacher at Northwest Rankin High School, where Gregg was a student.
