Boil water notice lifted in Jackson following storm-related power outage
SUMMARY: Jackson, Mississippi residents have been notified by JXN Water that they can resume normal water usage as the boil water advisory has been lifted. The advisory was initially issued after severe storms on Thursday night caused a power outage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant in Ridgeland. Ted Henifin, the interim third-party manager for JXN Water, expressed gratitude for the patience of the community and the efforts of staff. He credited the swift recovery to the work and knowledge acquired over the past year. Henifin also acknowledged the Mississippi State Department of Health’s laboratory staff for their timely work, and noted that plans are being made with Entergy to ensure backup power capacity for the plant in the event of future severe weather.

SUMMARY: The SEC announced its 2025 women’s basketball awards, with Ole Miss and Mississippi State earning postseason honors. Mississippi State’s Jerkalia Jordan made the All-SEC Second Team for the second consecutive year. Ole Miss forward Madison Scott, also a Gillom Trophy finalist, joined Jordan on the second team. Ole Miss’ Sira Thienou earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. Former Mississippi State coach Vic Schaefer, now at Texas, was named SEC Coach of the Year. Both Ole Miss (19-9) and Mississippi State (20-10) are vying for NCAA Tournament spots ahead of the SEC Tournament.
