SUMMARY: Breaking news: a body has been discovered in the water between Deer Island and the beach. Reporter Noah Noble, on scene, indicates that initial fears it might be a missing 75-year-old shrimper have subsided. Paddle boarders found the body and initially mistook it for a dolphin before realizing it was not. Police and Coast Guard are involved in the situation, but preliminary information suggests the body does not match the description of the missing individual. The Coast Guard had previously conducted extensive search efforts for the shrimper, whose boat sank near Deer Island. Updates will follow as information becomes available.

A body was found Tuesday morning between the Biloxi beach and Deer Island, according to Biloxi Police Department.

SUMMARY: The “Be a Santa to a Senior” program, organized by Home Instead and local partners, aims to bring holiday cheer to isolated seniors in the community. Chris Thompson explains that the initiative allows individuals to select names from trees displayed at locations like CVS and Rouses, purchase gifts, and return them for redistribution. This effort, ongoing for over a decade, helps seniors who might otherwise be overlooked during the holidays, especially those in hospice care or living alone. Gift wrapping will occur on December 11, with the program running until December 9. It’s a wonderful way to give back during the festive season.

The gift-giving program helps older adults who may be alone during the holiday season.

SUMMARY: Fewer homeless individuals are currently residing on the Broadwater property in Buuy, as local resource groups collaborate with police to provide assistance. Despite a trespass notification, a few people remain in the woods. Amanda Barnett from the Open Doors Homeless Coalition noted a decline in the homeless population, identifying only seven individuals this time compared to 48 in August. Efforts to clear the area and provide resources like bus passes and housing are ongoing, but the ultimate destinations for those displaced remain unclear. Barnett emphasizes that establishing a homeless shelter in southern Mississippi could significantly aid tracking and support efforts.
