Blood and Baseball: Lamar Sparks’ journey on the diamond
SUMMARY: Lamar Sparks, an outfielder for the Shuckers, has found support in both the family he was born with and the family that adopted him. After facing setbacks due to injuries and the pandemic, Sparks regained his passion for baseball while playing in independent leagues. He was then picked up by the Brewers and moved closer to his family in Texas. Sparks, who was adopted at a young age, believes that his birth mother put him up for adoption to give him the best opportunities in life. He also has a sister with cerebral palsy who was adopted by the same family, and they support each other. Sparks emphasizes the importance of having a strong support system in pursuing one’s dreams, and encourages young players to never give up.
