Biloxi Shuckers ambassador Barry Lyons named new manager of Lexington Legends
Former MLB catcher Barry Lyons has deep roots in Biloxi, cementing his legacy in his hometown as the man who brought the Biloxi Shuckers to the Gulf Coast. Now, he’s moving onto the next chapter of his career on the diamond.
Today, the Lexington Legends announced Lyons as their new manager starting in January, following his eight-year run as ambassador of the Shuckers.

Southern Miss Alumna Honored by White House with Prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

MGCCC Phi Theta Kappa chapters earn top honors at 2025 Regional Awards Gala
SUMMARY: Three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapters earned awards at the 2025 PTK Mississippi/Louisiana Regional Awards Gala. The Gamma Nu Chapter received multiple honors, including 1st Place for Honors in Action Theme Two and Most Improved Chapter. The Pi Epsilon Chapter secured a $1,000 Mellon Foundation Grant and elected the 2025 MS/LA Southern Regional Representative. The Omicron Alpha Chapter ranked 2nd regionally, earned multiple top project placements, and achieved Five-Star Chapter Status.
