2024 General Election Day Reminders
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s 2024 General Election is set for November 5, featuring positions for President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Supreme Court Justice, and more. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., allowing anyone in line at closing time to vote. MGCCC Fine Arts Gallery and Honors College students salute retired military through art and storytelling
SUMMARY: In honor of Veterans Day, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s School of Visual and Performing Arts is hosting โOur Veterans’ Art Adventures,โ an exhibition featuring art created by retired military members at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) in Gulfport. The exhibit runs from November 4 to December 6, 2024, at MGCCC’s Harrison County Campus Fine Arts Gallery. Art Specialist Milton Williams highlights the veterans’ enthusiasm for exploring their artistic talents, while Honors College students will document their stories for the project. A Veterans Day event on November 11 at 10:30 a.m. will showcase these narratives and celebrate their journeys.

MSU boasts two Rhodes Scholarship finalists
SUMMARY: Two seniors from the Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi State University, Sydney Denton and Devin Hutchins, have been named Rhodes Scholarship finalists. Denton, a double major in history and political science, will interview in Denver, while Hutchins, studying philosophy and economics, will interview in Birmingham. They are the eighth and ninth MSU finalists in 13 years, recognized for their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to community service. Both have contributed significantly to campus organizations and social issues, reflecting the Rhodes Trust’s values of impactful change. David Hoffman, director of MSU’s Office of Prestigious External Scholarships, praised their accomplishments.
