Biloxi, Hancock County respond to campuses after active shooter calls
Law enforcement agencies are investigating active shooter calls that were made in Hancock and Harrison counties.
Students are on fall break in both districts and were not on campus. Teachers were on campus in Biloxi but not at Hancock High.
Biloxi Police spokesman Tom Goldsworthy said a call came in saying there was an active shooter at Biloxi Junior High. Biloxi, with help from school resource officers and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, cleared the junior high room by room.
They are also clearing the upper elementary and Biloxi High.

City office closures announced because of winter weather
SUMMARY: Cities along the Coast are closing non-emergency offices due to winter weather. In Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, and several other cities, offices will be closed Tuesday and will reopen at varying times on Wednesday. City Council meetings are being rescheduled, with most now set for Thursday. Specifically, Diamondhead, Moss Point, and Waveland have closures extending to Wednesday, with meetings also moved to Thursday at 6 p.m. or later. Ocean Springs will reopen Wednesday at noon, and its Board of Aldermen meeting will proceed as scheduled. Gautier’s City Council meeting will be remote, with no live stream available.
