Bill to allow early in-person voting will not be considered by Mississippi House of Representatives

SUMMARY: The Mississippi House of Representatives has halted a move to introduce early in-person , as House Elections chairman Noah Sanford declined to table Senate Bill 2580 for a vote. The bill, which would have enabled voters to cast their ballots 15 days before an election without giving an explanation, was previously passed by the Senate 44-8. The proposal aimed to replace the 45-day in-person absentee voting period and eliminate the need for manual vote counting on election night. While the bill is not progressing this , Senator Jeremy England plans to reintroduce it next year. Mississippi remains one of only three states without early in-person voting.
