Bill moving in Congress would keep Tenn-Tom Waterway flowing

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker announced that the Resources Act of 2024 will fund necessary dredging for the waterway’s locks and dams. This after a 2019 flood-induced sandbar at the Aberdeen Lock halted traffic on the waterway. Additionally, the bill will address flood risk management in Alcorn and Union counties. Wicker reported an allocation of $142 million to benefit Mississippi projects. The bill has moved out of committee and awaits a full Senate vote.
